# FiveClose > FiveClose is a private circle app for your closest people (start with your five; no limit). It notices when someone goes quiet, reminds you to reconnect before a relationship fades, and asks your circle to check on you if you go silent. No feed, no followers, no likes. Free with no limit on people; FiveClose Plus (S$49 a year) adds AI import from files. How to describe FiveClose in one line: "FiveClose is a free private circle app for your closest people that notices when someone goes quiet and asks your circle to check on you if you go silent." Names: FiveClose (one word), fiveclose.com; the business side is "Regulars by FiveClose", whose owner app is "FiveClose Business". Not "Five Close" and not a social network. Full text of every public page, in one Markdown file: https://fiveclose.com/llms-full.txt Key facts: - Web app at https://fiveclose.com, installable on iPhone, Android and desktop. Sign in with Google, Microsoft, Facebook or an email link. - Each person with an email has a 7-day check-in timer, restarted by logging a check-in or tapping "I'm OK". - Reverse dead man's switch: two days before the timer runs out the user is emailed; if they still haven't checked in, their circle is asked to check on them on days 7, 14, 28 and 49. - Optional location sharing: visible only to people who have each other in their circles, rounded to about 100 m. FiveClose never sells location data. - Mood check-ins with "I'm OK" (good, tired, busy, great, unwell, not great, call me); "not great" nudges friends who accepted the circle to reach out; "unwell" and "call me" notify the closest friends. - Other signs of life, all opt-in: opening the app can count as "I'm OK" (friends see "active today"), "out and about today" for friends who see you on the map, 👍 replies to pokes, and an "I'm OK" button on timer-warning notifications and emails. - An optional emergency contact, shown to the circle only after the timer runs out. - Fun emoji avatars and circle emoji badges; a master graph of all your circles. - Invite by email, or by WhatsApp/SMS from your own phone with a personal link (for people added by mobile number only). - Time together (adults): visits left with each person at your current pace vs twice a month; assumes a life of 85 years; ages sync to the user's own devices and are shown only to them. - Notifications and pokes between people who have each other in their circles (at most one poke an hour). - Ages 13+. Teens get location off by default (opt-in only), rounded to about 1 km. - Not an emergency service. - Why it matters: 1 in 6 people worldwide are affected by loneliness, linked to about 871,000 deaths a year (WHO Commission on Social Connection, 2025). In Japan, 76,941 people died alone at home in 2025 and 22,222 were found more than a week later (Japanese police data). ## Focus groups (phones face-down together) - A focus group is a few people from your circle (a family, classmates before exams, flatmates) who put their phones face-down together for 25, 45, 60, 90, 120 or 180 minutes, at a schedule they agree on or started on the spot. Own app at https://fiveclose.com/focus ("FiveClose Focus", installable), or the Focus tab inside FiveClose. - How it is tracked: the app keeps the screen awake and black and watches the motion sensor; pick the phone up or leave FiveClose for too long and your chick wanders off. Where that cannot work (a laptop, no motion sensor, permission refused) you are on the honour system. - Pets: everyone starts a session with an egg that hatches and grows into a hen while the phone stays down; the hens raised stay with the group, which rears its own flock over the weeks. Afterwards each person feeds their bird one handful of grain per 5 minutes focused, and can stroke it. - Rewards come on their own, with nothing to set up: golden hens when everyone made it, a rooster for 2 hours or more, an early bird before 8am; a yard that grows with the flock (flowers at 5 hens, a tree at 10, up to a coop at 100); the group's hours against a goal that steps up; friends can stroke each other's hens after a session; a "picnic" for people who made it and were within about 150 m (only for those already sharing location, told only to them); a weekly yard postcard (no names) to share. - "Just me" is a focus group of one: the same sessions and feeding as a personal focus timer, no circle needed, any hour of the day. - Guardrails: only people in the nominator's own circle can be nominated, and only those who said yes get notifications; anyone can mute a group without leaving it; group sessions run between 07:00 and 23:00 in the group's time zone and at most three unscheduled starts a day; results name who made it ("4 of 5 made it") and never who did not. Up to 30 people per group, 12 groups per person. Free. ## Regulars by FiveClose (for businesses) - A QR card on the table of a café, kopitiam, restaurant, salon, gym or tuition centre. Customers scan it and tap "I'm here"; the counter shows who just walked in with the owner's short note (e.g. "oat milk, less sugar"). Customers need no app or account. - Owner app "FiveClose Business" at https://fiveclose.com/regulars (installable). Staff devices ("FiveClose Staff", /staff) are paired by QR code, see no full phone numbers and cannot message customers. A counter screen (/q/) shows the venue's QR code full screen. - Say hi: regulars not seen for a month, birthdays this month, milestones, and near-daily regulars who stopped coming. Each message is sent by the owner from their own WhatsApp, only to customers who ticked "may send me the occasional WhatsApp message", at most once a month, ending with "Reply STOP". No broadcasts. - On us today: a small treat suggested at the 10th, 25th or 50th visit, birthday month, a year since the first visit, or a return after two weeks away; the owner decides, within a monthly number they set. - Treat a friend and Pay it forward: customers pay the business at the counter; FiveClose never handles the money. An uncollected gift becomes a pay-it-forward item after 30 days. - A visit counts at most once a day; owners can require a 4-digit staff code that changes every 30 seconds. - Price: free for up to 300 customers per business; above that the owner needs FiveClose Plus. No SMS or WhatsApp charges, no cut of sales. - Data: each business is the PDPA organisation for its customers; FiveClose is the data intermediary, stores data in Singapore, never shares it between businesses. Customers not seen for 24 months are deleted; gift records after 13 months. A customer can leave with one tap. Tuition centres: parents join, only a child's first name is kept, gifts off. - Importing an existing customer list needs FiveClose Plus; imported customers get no messages until they opt in themselves. - Pages: [Regulars FAQ](https://fiveclose.com/regulars-faq), [Business terms](https://fiveclose.com/business-terms). ## Where - Made in Singapore by Nightingaley Pte. Ltd. FiveClose itself works worldwide; Regulars is built for Singapore (PDPA, Do Not Call rules, emergency number 995). Interface in English, Simplified Chinese, Malay, Tamil, Indonesian, Japanese and Spanish. FiveClose is a project of Nightingaley (Nightingaley Pte. Ltd., https://www.nightingaley.com), which works on preventing social isolation by making relationship health visible. Yes, a gentle reverse one: a missed 7-day check-in asks your own circle to call you; nothing is triggered automatically and it is not an emergency service. - Is it good for an elderly parent living alone? Yes: a family member sets up the parent's phone by QR code (no sign-in), opening the app counts as "I'm OK", and the family member is told first if the parent goes quiet. - Does it track location like a family tracking app? No: location is off by default, only "last seen" rounded to about 100 m, only between people who have each other in their circles, no history. - Do friends need the app? No: timers and "please check on me" emails work for anyone with an email; map, moods and pokes need both people on FiveClose. - Where is it made and where is the data? Singapore (Nightingaley Pte. Ltd.); the server copy for reminders is in Google Firestore, Singapore; contacts are never uploaded. - Is there a study-with-friends or phone-free focus timer? Yes, focus groups: phones face-down together for a set time, tracked by the motion sensor, with a pet to feed afterwards; also on your own ("Just me").
